If I were to leave San Francisco tomorrow, I know there will be much to miss: the beautiful parks I visit on a warm day; the beautiful architecture of the city (especially the Castro, Nob Hill, Mission, and Nopa Districts); the short walks to grocery stores, amazing restaurants, and bars; the sound of the city; but most of all, I will miss shopping @ my favorite vintage store, The Painted Bird. This store has a profound place in my heart.
The Painted Bird is an oasis for beautiful, unique vintage clothing. The name could be the title to a fairy tale book, and on that note, the interior design lives up to the fairy tale name: the pastel walls, the vintage curtains (used for their dressing room), and their employees that resemble Blythe dolls -creates a whimsical and unique ambiance for their fashion seeking customers. The owners of the store pride themselves on selling one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, but also carrying vintage pieces that are current to trends. Because the owners are passionate about vintage clothing, they never over price their items for a huge profit; instead, they hope customers will adore and treasure their vintage finds as much as they do. The store also transforms itself into an art gallery: carrying art work from local San Francisco artists. .
